Here is some helpful hints when organizing your originals.

Organizing Your Slides and Negatives

1) Group and Label
You may keep your slides in their original carousels as a group. It would be helpful if you labeled each carousel so that when I save the group as a folder on you DVD, they will be easy to identify.

For negatives, if they are in a 8x11 clear plastic sheet, you may leave them in there. Maybe place a sticky or a dot on the ones you would like to have scanned. If they're not in a sheet, but rather in a folder, you may note down which negatives you want scanned. If you look at each negative, there are about 4 - 6 images per negative strip. Each individual image has a number above it. You may use those numbers as to identify which you would like scanned.

2) Saving Individual Slides with a Specific Name
If you want individual slides or negatives named a certain way, please note it down. What some customers do is, they leave them in the carrousel starting from 1, and so one. On a separate sheet of paper, they note down the name of each slide. I will scan from first to last.

3) Cleaning Slides
You don't necessarily need to clean your slides from dust or debris. To protect my equipment, I clean all slides myself anyway. For fingerprints, or spills, I use a lint-free cloth to clean them off. For dust and debris, I use compressed air cleaner. For negatives, it's best not to even touch them. If they're in a plastic sheet they should be fine. I handle all negatives with lint-free gloves as not to leave any finger prints. If they seem to be dusty, I will use the lint-free cloth to wipe them down.

Organizing Your Photos

1) Group and Label
I scan from first to last, so place your photos in such an order in an labeled folder. A basic envelope holds about 25, 4x6 photos. For 8x10 images, you'll need a 8x11 envelope, which holds about 15-20 photos. A shoe box holds about 400, 4x6 photos.

2) Saving Individual Photos with a Specific Name
If you want your individual photos saved under a certain name, please note it down. What some customers do is, they will mark down on the back of the photo the name in which they want it saved as.

Organizing Your VHS Tapes

1) Make Sure Your VHS Tapes Are Labeled.
Creating menus and DVD covers is a lot easier when your VHS tapes are labeled.

2) Preparing VHS Tapes For Editing
If you require editing, please provide a detailed timeline of which part you want to keep and omit.
