"I was looking through my father's old box of 35mm slides. It's amazing how many memories are in those old slides and negatives."
When I heard that from a customer, I knew what they were talking about. Before I started DigitalCalgary, I was scanning my own family's slide and negative albums. True, I wanted to digitize my originals to future-proof and preserve them; but really, it was just great to see all those memories again.
Classic Slide / Negative Scans are designed for you and me. If all you want high-quality professional digital images, and don't want to spend thousands, then we recommend this option. However, if you're a photographer and high-resolution is important to you, try Pro Scans.

So, if all the above is a bit confusing, let me help you decide. Every time we scan at a higher output size, we basically pickup more digital info from the slide. This just means that if you try to print a 4x6 scan at 8x12, it'll be grainy and less smooth or crisp than an actual 8x12 scan. But if you're never going to print any higher than 4x6, or do any editing, and just want to enjoy hi-quality images, stick with the 4x6 scans. If you're worried about resolution and would like to have the highest scan possible, go with 12x18 or go with the Cadillac Scan if you're concerned about true archiving. Remember, the bigger the resolution, the more you can do with the image.
