The Story About ScanCanada
Hi, Konrad here. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about us.
Back in 2006 I was having some trouble finding a business that would scan my parents photos. So I decided to buy a decent scanner (and not the ones you get at Future Shop), and scanned them myself. A co-worker at the time heard about this, and asked me to scan his negatives. After I finished, he told another worker and the word was spreading. I quit, put up a simple website, and four years later my company has scanned over 100,000 slides, negatives, and photos.
And that's basically how we do our business today-- do a good job, and people will tell somebody else. It's a simple strategy, and it's been working because every year we have been growing. In fact, I had to make the decision to move to Toronto from Calgary since most of our customers were from the east. Now the crazy thing is, we're getting a flood of customers from the west. But the plan is to open two facilities-- one back in Calgary, and another in Vancouver. Our goal is to have these facilities open in September 2010.
